HOW CAN WE ENCOURAGE WILDLIFE?
The Community Council have planted wild flower areas in various locations around the village. As well as looking beautiful, the areas are designed to attract pollinating insects including bees, butterflies and hoverflies. These insects are a vital part of our environment.
We can all help to tackle the decline of pollinating insects in our own gardens.
Allow wild flowers to bloom
Do not use pesticides or herbicides
Grow bee friendly flowers
Provide nesting places for bees of all species by leaving old trees in place or by creating piles of dead wood for bees and other insects to next inside
Plant trees that have blossom and allow hedges to flower
